Abdulaziz Yari, the former Governor of Zamfara State, has been summoned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for a new round of questioning.
Remember that Yari, a former Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), was interrogated by the agency’s operatives for several hours in February over accusations of corruption.
Detectives from the EFCC’s Lagos office asked the former governor over an alleged plan to unlawfully transfer N300 billion from a corporate account in a new generation bank.
However, new information suggests that the former governor of Zamfara could be summoned to the EFCC office for further questioning.
According to sources, Yari issued a lengthy statement to the commission’s operatives before being released late on February 3 evening.
The invitation letter titled,
LETTER OF INVITATION’, reads, “The commission is investigating an alleged case of conspiracy, diversion of public funds and money laundering in which the need to obtain certain clarifications from you has become imperative.
